RESTAURANT REVIEW: Alcove/ Village Gourmet
YAY!! This place has only been open for a couple of weeks and I already love it. Open for breakfast until late night Alcove is the cafe/ bakery the East Side has needed forever. The lunch/ dinner fair consists mainly of sandwiches & burgers (Oli & I both got the brie, apple, carmelized onion panini on rosemary focaccia on our first visit) and everything comes with your choice of salad, fries or onion rings. This is an order-at-the-counter-they-bring-you-your-food type of place which works great with the design of the restaurant. You can choose to sit in the big outdoor patio or inside the lush restaurant. The pastries are also amazing--they offer at least a dozen cakes to choose from, plus cookies and anything else you can imagine. The best part about this place, though, is how ridiculously friendly the staff is. They have been slammed since they opened--everytime I drive by the patio is full, yet the order takers & servers are always chatty and smiling. I love every one of them.
Village Gourmet is a gourmet deli/ cheese shop that opened in conjunction with Alcove. During the day, they open up a the partition between the two stores & allow you to wander back and forth while you await your food. Village Gourmet closes at a normal time though, so no late night french olive runs for you.
Recommended.
